Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 31, 2026
Passe has no server. This privacy policy is short because there's nothing to hide.
What we collect
Nothing. Passe does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. There are no analytics, no crash reports, no telemetry, and no tracking pixels. The only third-party requests are to Google's font CDN (see below), which receive your IP address and browser headers as part of serving the font files — not Passe-specific data.
What stays on your device
Everything. Your screenshots, callouts, annotations, and notes never leave your browser. They are not uploaded to any server. They are not stored in any database that Passe operates or controls.
What's cached
The service worker caches the app shell (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Google Fonts files) so the app works offline. This cache contains no user data — it's the same static files served to every visitor.
Local persistence (boards)
As soon as you load a screenshot, the session becomes a board — a single image is a one-page board, and adding more images grows it. Boards persist locally so you don't lose your work on refresh — image bytes (even for a single screenshot) are stored in your browser's IndexedDB and the document (callouts, notes, connections) in localStorage. This data never leaves your device. Clearing your browser data removes all stored boards and their images.
localStorage
Passe stores user preferences (theme, panel state, snap settings, color/stroke defaults) and board document metadata in localStorage. Image data is stored separately in IndexedDB (see above). Clearing your browser data removes all of this.
Third-party resources
Passe loads Google Fonts (CSS and font files) from fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com. These requests expose your IP address and browser headers to Google, as any cross-origin font request would. No Passe-specific data — no screenshots, annotations, or user content — is included in these requests. Once the fonts are cached, no further requests are made to Google.
